Prior to our move, the firm had seen itself settled at Clarendon Street in Nottingham for 14 years, having existed in the city since 1993.

Like many other businesses, Directors Graham, David and Matthew made the decision during the Covid-19 pandemic to relocate away from Nottingham City Centre and since July 2021, we have been comfortably settled in our newly acquired premises at Brigade House, Albion Street in Beeston.

The Grade II listed former Mill building was built by Francis Wilkinson in 1892 and at the time was known to be the largest net curtain factory in Europe. the site has been converted to residential apartments and offices. The Beeston Boys Brigade (Nottingham 17th) troop met regularly in the space we now occupy in the early 20th century earning the building its name, Brigade House.

The open-plan layout of the office space has brought everyone in the firm together for the first time and we don’t mind saying that it took a little getting used to!

Thankfully, we are now very comfortable in our new surroundings and have found collaboration and open communication opportunities in this new layout to be a real asset to the company.

Beeston itself is an up-and-coming area that has seen millions of pounds of investment including the refurbishment of the shopping precinct, new and improved public transport connecting the town to the NET tram network, The Arc Cinema, more retailers, cafes and a gym.

Why not pop in for a chat and take a look around yourself?

In July 2022 Musson Liggins were involved in the valuation of the former Beales Department Store on Queen Street within the centre of Mansfield. The valuation formed a vital part of Mansfield District Council’s Levelling-Up Fund submission for the town in order to demonstrate their commitment to investment and regeneration to the government.

A successful Levelling-Up Fund submission could see a £20m injection of funds into Mansfield District Council’s ambitious, long-term town centre regeneration strategy which include plans to transform the former Beales Department Store building into a new multi-agency civic and community hub, going under the name of Mansfield Connect.

David Bladen, Director of Musson Liggins who carried out the valuation, said “It has been a pleasure to be involved in such an important project which will ultimately bring much-needed improvements to Mansfield Town Centre. The 163,000 ft² building over 6 floors brings with it a unique set of challenges. The Council has demonstrated that they have a strong vision for the future, and I think the project will be a resounding success.”

The landmark 1930s building is set to be modernized and extended to provide a new headquarters for the council and is expected to house a variety of other public, health and wellbeing, education, and enterprise services, alongside spaces for private sector investment.

Michael Robinson, Mansfield District Council’s Strategic Director welcomed Musson Liggins support and insight, commenting “An independent valuation of the building formed a vital part of the submission we made to government in early August and we were grateful that Musson Liggins was able to help us.  We look forward to a positive decision on Mansfield Connect sometime in the autumn later this year.”

New home for charity as Nottingham agents team up to seal office deal

A vital Nottingham charity has bought new office premises after a deal brokered by city property specialists  Musson Liggins and NG Chartered Surveyors.

RSPCA Nottingham & Notts has moved into 7 Farrington Way on Eastwood Link Office Park in Nottinghamshire. The unit provides almost 2,000 sq ft of open plan office space.

The charity had been looking to source alternative fit for purpose branch premises for some time.

Kerry Grinrod, Chair, said: “We believe that the new premises at 7 Farrington Way, Eastwood align well with our long- term objectives.

“The move will enable the Branch to evolve and thereby fulfil its strategy for enduring sustainability in the interests of animal welfare.

“The collaborative efforts of both Richard Sutton at NG and David Bladen of our retained surveyors Musson Liggins, enabled a swift deal to be achieved on mutually agreeable terms.”

Charlotte Steggles of NG Chartered Surveyors, added: “This is a fantastic deal for our vendor client and for the charity.

“RSPCA Nottingham & Notts carries out vital work in the field of animal welfare, and so it’s particularly pleasing to be involved in a transaction that will make a real difference. We wish them well in their new office space.

“The deal also goes to show that the out of town office market is still thriving and that proactive vendors, with our help, will always prove popular with prospective buyers.”

David Bladen, director of Musson Liggins, who acted for RSPCA Nottingham & Notts added: “It has been a pleasure assisting such a fantastic charity and helping them acquire a new office. We have found them the perfect home to continue their great work. It is not always straightforward buying premises in a competitive market and we are pleased to have been able to secure a suitable property for the RSPCA through our market knowledge, connections and expertise in commercial property.

“We now have the task of selling the RSPCA’s previous premises on Radford Road, which is under offer after two weeks of marketing following significant interest.”

Welcome to the team Niamh! Joining us this summer as part of the Agency/Secretarial team, Niamh has already proved herself to be a valuable addition to the office.

Here’s a little bit about ML’s newest team member:

“I am the newest member of Musson Liggins secretarial team, having recently moved back to Nottingham from my hometown of Manchester. My role includes producing client reports, answering telephone calls and generally assisting the surveyors with their day-to-day activities. As the first point of contact for clients, I aim to assist in any way to ensure their queries are dealt with promptly.

In my spare time, I enjoy visiting art galleries while also creating my own art, having studied Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University. I try to paint as often as I can as I find it very therapeutic and a great way for me to relax.”

Congratulations to Stephen Musson and his fellow riders who completed the journey from John O’Groats to Lands End. The team crossed the finish on Sunday and for their efforts raised £10,395 for Stroke Association and Breast Cancer Now.

You can still donate to Stephen’s Page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/JOGLEwithStephen

Despite being the most senior member of the Musson Liggins team, Stephen Musson is embarking on a 1,065 mile cycling event over a 10 day period from John O’Groats to Lands End, beginning on 27 July 2022.

Eight cyclists and a back-up team of five people will complete the event, travelling through most of the English National Parks en route, in support of two major charities. Four cyclists are raising funds on behalf of Breast Cancer Now, and four on behalf of the Stroke Association and it is hoped to be able to raise in excess of £5,000 for each of the charities.

The event has been 12 months in the planning and Stephen is looking more and more tired by the day as he increases his training towards the commencement of the event.

This will be the fourth time that he has completed the event and we are sure that he is asking himself what on earth possessed him to try to complete it again!

We wish him all the best in this charity endeavour and his Just Giving page can be viewed at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/JOGLEwithStephen
